Japanese popular contemporary artist, Akira Yamaguchi's solo exhibition began last Saturday. This is the first his solo show in Yokohama district.
Mr. Yamaguchi studied old Japanese painting style (Yamato-e and Ukiyo-e) and make it new one. His works contain cynical and humorous aspect at the same time.

"Sharjah Biennial 11" curated by Ms. Yuko Hasegawa has opened March 13th. The theme is "Re:emerge, Towards a New Cultural Cartography". We can see the works by 99 artists from 41 countries.

The exhibition "Memento Mori ~Eros and Thanatos~" by Hiroshi SUGIMOTO curation opens today. This exhibition is held for celebration of Shirokane Art Complex 5th anniversary. Mr. Sugimoto gave the galleries a theme and galleries respond to it. The theme is " Memento Mori ~Eros and Thanatos~".
NEW CITY ART FAIR appears in Japan this April. The first NCAF was held in New York in last March to introduce contemporary art of Japan to a world art fan. It was held as an art section of the first event in Taiwan in November of the year. It was performed again in New York in this March and had a good reputation. NCAF comes up in the Hankyu Umeda Main Store as "NEW CITY ART FAIR Osaka" from April 24. We can enjoy cool Japanese contemporary art.
