Taiwan Pavilion holds an exhibiton 'This is not a Taiwan Pavilion' presented by the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. Taiwan attended la Biennale di Venezia since 1995 and this is their 10th participation. Esther Lu, a curator invited 3 units of artists and made 3 projects: Bernd Behr's 'Chronotopia', Chia-Wei Hsu's 'Marshal Tie Jia', and Kateřina Šedá + BATEŽO MIKILU, a group of six high school students from Zastávka, a town in the Czech Republic's 'This is not a Czech Pavilion'. The title of the exhibition 'This is not a Taiwan Pavilion' uses a negative sentence and develops images of Taiwan which the audience have.

An collateral event of la Biennale di Venezia, 'Personal Structures' has started from June 1, 2013. Personal Structures is an international art project initiated in 2002 by the Dutch artist Rene Rietmeyer. Asian artists who participate the exhibition are Yoshitaka Amano, Toshikatsu Endo, Hirofumi Isoya and Yoko Ono from Japan, Chul Hyun Ahn and Suh Jeong Min from South Korea, Chen Ping, Qin Chong, Xing Xin and Zhang Yu from China.

The collaboration between independent curator James Putnam and traditional hand-blown glass artisans at Berengo Studio in Venice, “Glasstress,” presents its 3rd edition at the 55th Venice Biennale this year, titled White Light / White Heat. The exhibition opens on 31 May at Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti on the Grand Canal next to Ponte dell’Accademia, and will be on view until 24 November. For the exhibition, Putnam and Adriano Berengo, President of Berengo Studio, invited contemporary artists to work with Murano artisans to create works of art from glass. Among the sixty-six artists featured, Cai Guo-Qiang will stage Full-Body Scan: Next!, his first attempt to employ glass as a medium in his work.
