Art Central 2019 will welcome 107 leading galleries from 22 countries, with over 30 exhibitors making their Art Central debut. The fair will feature a critically acclaimed five day programme including performance art, large scale installations and talks by some of the leading names in contemporary art today.
There are 17 Japanese galleries on display. Including：AF LABO, Gallery Art Composition, Gallery KOGURE, Gallery Shimamura, IMA gallery, Kamakura Gallery, Kashima Arts Co., Kobayashi Gallery, Maekawa + Takemura, MARUEIDO JAPAN, MASAHIRO MAKI GALLERY, Nukaga Gallery, Saihodo Gallery, Shukado, Shunpudo Gallery, Whitestone Gallery, Taipei,Tezukayama Gallery, Zeal House. These galleries are well-known both at home and abroad. I believe they will bring special works to Art Central and attract more people to enjoy and participate in art fair.

PROJECTS for 2019 presents six ambitions large-scale works including an interactive sound installation, text-based painting, and a walk-in sculpture, that challenge the confines of a traditional art fair booth. Curated by Ying Kwok, she curated the Hong Kong Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017. Investigating into historical and cultural narratives through a variety of mediums within a curatorial framework, and presents six cutting-edge installations featuring ANGELA YUEN (Hong Kong), CHEUK WING NAM (Hong Kong), HERI DONO (Indonesia), LE GIANG (Vietnam), PHUNK (Singapore), and SEUNGEAN CHA (Korea).
Bettina Fung「I am tired with you」
Entering the fifth year of partnership with Art Central, 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art (Sydney) returns in 2019 with a curated performance program featuring four interactive and live works by leading contemporary artists from across the Asia-Pacific region. Ideas of time and duration, questioning the futility and fruits of human endeavour are all addressed by leading contemporary artists through a series of daily on-site performances, interrupting the hum of the fair, with challenging examination of the exhaustive state of perpetual busy-ness and the act of counting down. The participating artists are: Bettina Fung (Hong Kong/United Kingdom), Brian Fuata (Australia), Minja Gu (Korea) and Siu Lan Ko (Hong Kong/ Canada).
“TALKS X ASIA SOCIETY” is Education Partner, Asia Society Hong Kong Center, returns to Art Central to present a daily programme of talks and panel discussions. This year’s talk programme will feature a ‘Conversation with 2019 Asia Arts Game Changer Awards Honourees’ on the third day of the art fair. The honourees will share personal and inspirational thoughts related to the significant contributions they have made to the development of the modern and contemporary art industry in Asia. The participating artists are: Imran Qureshi, Natee Utarit(Thai), Christine Ay Tjoe(Indonesian) and Fang Lijun (China)。
So, Joining us for the first time in 2019, a new pop-up restaurant created specially for Art Central: SCARPETTA di Daniele Sperindio. Proving again that Art Central is the best place to dine during Hong Kong Art Week, THE TERRACE will return featuring eight of Hong Kong’s hottest eateries in an outdoor setting alongside live music and bespoke cocktails.
